Gareth Walsh, Managing Director of FORMIT Services, is pleased to announce the successful completion of a product trial with D&D Technologies, resulting in the decision to move forward with the installation of TruClose® Regular hinges for FORMIT’s Compac Portable Toilet units.
The trial, initiated in December last year, featured D&D’s TCA1S3 hinge model (without trim covers) and followed a tour of D&D’s manufacturing facility, where the company showcased its commitment to quality, reliability, and the benefits of Australian-made products. The trial was highly successful, resulting in an initial order of 100 hinge pairs—enough for 50 portable toilets. This figure has since increased, with a total of 125 toilets now fitted with D&D’s TruClose hinges.
Sales Manager Dominika Korgova, overseeing the NSW and ACT regions, has been instrumental in facilitating this partnership. While the revenue potential with FORMIT may be limited due to the reusable nature of their portable toilets, D&D views this collaboration as a strategic opportunity. It marks the introduction of TruClose® hinges into a new vertical, offering valuable industry exposure and a competitive edge.
Gareth Walsh also demonstrated commendable transparency during this process, disclosing that he had been approached by another supplier. His openness further solidified the trust and integrity underpinning the partnership.
The Compac Portable Toilet units featuring D&D hinges have now gained visibility across the Hire and Rental industry, servicing a wide range of applications including:
• Residential construction (new builds, extensions, granny flats, bathroom renovations)
• Civil construction and infrastructure projects
• Major events such as music festivals, community celebrations (Easter Show, Vivid, City to Surf, Carols by Candlelight)
• Sporting events
